Baseball Recap: Santa Rosa Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

It was a proper cat-fight when Santa Rosa duked it out with Jal on Thursday. Santa Rosa put the hurt on Jal with a sharp 23-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three contests by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Daniel Zamora was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Zamora was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Landyn Zamora and Andre Chavez did most of the damage at the plate: Landyn went 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI, while Chavez went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Zamora a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcos Velasquez, who scored three runs and stole three bases.

Santa Rosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Santa Rosa pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Jal, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
