Recap: Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints vs. Steward Spartans
The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Steward, falling 61-20. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy has not had much luck with Steward recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Steward's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Johnson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Another player making a difference was Tori West, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Steward, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will take on Norfolk Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is coming into the contest with five straight defeats at home, meaning Norfolk Academy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Steward will take on Peninsula Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Peninsula Catholic comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 11 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
