Softball Recap: Payson Comes Up Short

Payson lost to Bourgade Catholic last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Longhorns fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 8-7.

Tatum Weinland made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Shylah Waterman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Payson has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Bourgade Catholic, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Payson is set to challenge their familiar foe Gilbert Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bourgade Catholic will take on rival San Tan Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
