Softball Recap: Iowa-Grant Gets the Win

Iowa-Grant won the last time they faced Seneca and things went their way on Saturday too. The Panthers came out on top against the Indians by a score of 9-6. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Quinn Hoeper was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Hoeper was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pajessa Baker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Kite, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Iowa-Grant and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Seneca, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Iowa-Grant will head out on the road to square off against Cuba City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Seneca, they will face off against Kickapoo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
