Baseball Game Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. South Central Falcons

The Hunt Warriors will take on the South Central Falcons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hunt will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Thursday, Hunt needed a bit of extra time to put away Southern Nash. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Firebirds.

Seth Evans made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Zach Taylor was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, South Central has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.08 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of D.H. Conley. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

South Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Jones, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI. Isaiah James also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hunt's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for South Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Hunt suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to South Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2017. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
