Baseball Game Preview: Avella Eagles vs. Jefferson-Morgan Rockets

For the second straight game, Avella will face off against Jefferson-Morgan. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Rockets at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Avella 2.4, Jefferson-Morgan 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Avella had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Jefferson-Morgan put an end to it on Wednesday. The Eagles fell 3-0 to the Rockets. The game marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

For Jefferson-Morgan's part, not much got past Drew Adams, who gave up just five hits to keep Avella off the board. Adams also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Rockets are 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaymison Robinson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Jefferson-Morgan: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Ellsworth, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The victory got Jefferson-Morgan back to even at 3-3. As for Avella, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.
