Preview: East Montgomery vs. Mount Pleasant
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Mount Pleasant. They will challenge East Montgomery on the road at 7:30 PM on Thursday. Mount Pleasant don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Mount Pleasant's strategy against Forest Hills last Friday. Everything came up roses for Mount Pleasant against Forest Hills as the team secured a 54-14 win. Mount Pleasant had a senior duo take command as Noah Berryman rushed for 97 yards and 3 touchdowns and Landon Honeycutt rushed for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. Honeycutt has now scored at least one touchdown in the past six games.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for East Montgomery, and their game last Friday only extended their streak of losses to three. They were completely outmatched, falling 7-52 to West Stanly.
Mount Pleasant's victory lifted them to 4-5 while East Montgomery's loss dropped them down to 3-6. In Mount Pleasant's victory, senior Noah Berryman rushed for 97 yards and 3 touchdowns and senior Landon Honeycutt rushed for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns.
