Baseball Game Preview: Lakeview Charter Lions vs. Heritage Christian Warriors

The Lakeview Charter Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Heritage Christian Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeview Charter has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Last Monday, Lakeview Charter came up short against East Valley and fell 11-6.

Brandon Ornelas and Brandon Guerrero did some serious damage despite the final result: Ornelas went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run, while Guerrero scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That triple was Ornelas' first of the season.

Meanwhile, while Heritage Christian put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Channel Islands. Heritage Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Channel Islands. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Heritage Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Lakeview Charter now has a losing record of 2-3.

Lakeview Charter suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Heritage Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Lakeview Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
