Recap: Liberty Charter Lions vs. El Capitan Vaqueros
The Liberty Charter Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against El Capitan, falling 67-29. Liberty Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-10.
Liberty Charter's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Duke Dengerink, who scored 10 points. Dengerink scored a full 34.5% of Liberty Charter's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was John Rose, who scored 0 points along with 11 rebounds and 6 blocks.
Even though they lost, Liberty Charter were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Capitan only racked up 23.
Caleb ?Bones? Shelton was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Andersen, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds.
Liberty Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for El Capitan, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Charter will play host again and welcome Bonsall, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Capitan, they will be playing at home against Foothills Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
