It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Middletown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Pine Bush Bushmen. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-1 victory on May 12th.
Bethannie French spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Alissandra Soto was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Middletown has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Bush, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.
As of now, neither Middletown nor the Bushmen have any future games scheduled.
