Basketball Recap: River Valley Comes Up Short

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 85-37, which was the final score in the River Valley Dust Devils's tilt against the Chinle Wildcats on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Dust Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Wildcats are ranked 46th).

River Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Janaya Erickson, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Nova Kline, who had eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for River Valley and nudges their season record down to 13-10. As for Chinle, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-14 record this season.

River Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chinle, they will face off against Gilbert Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
