Basketball Recap: Freedom Takes a Loss

Freedom was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 74-33 defeat at the hands of the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 599th, while the Spartans are ranked 226th).

Derrick Doe was his usual excellent self, putting up 28 points for Sports Leadership & Management. Those 28 points gave Doe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcelino 'MJ' Rodriguez, who posted ten points.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Freedom wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-32 defeat against Riverview on the 30th. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-68 win against Carrollwood Day on the 5th.
