Softball Recap: Hamden Gets the Win

Hamden's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They never let the Hillhouse Academics get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Dragons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Felicity Potkay made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Potkay was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Hamden got a big performance out of Lillian Hagen, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those runs were Hagen's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Laila Williams, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Hamden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hamden's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Hillhouse, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
