LaPoynor dropped their record down to 14-12 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Cayuga Wildcats, falling 10-0. The Flyers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

As for Cayuga, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Cayuga's part, Colt Mullican made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Mullican has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Cayuga: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Conner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cayuga's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Gus Wilfong, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While LaPoynor had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
