            Baseball Recap: Monticello Billies vs. Star City Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            Monticello never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Star City on Friday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of  11-6. The Billies haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive  victory against them.

 Monticello got a  massive  performance out of  Blaine Hayden, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those  three  hits gave  Hayden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Laytn Nichols, who  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Monticello's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Star City, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the  loss, which was their eighth straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Looking ahead, Monticello will head out to  challenge Dumas  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.6  runs per game on average), something the Billies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Star City, they will be playing at home against DeWitt  at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5  runs per game  this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
