Preview: Lincoln Trojans vs. Arnold Marlins
Lincoln is 1-0 against Arnold since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lincoln Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Arnold Marlins at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Lincoln is not getting complacent, as they comes into the match much higher ranked than Arnold in Florida (Lincoln is ranked 29th, while Arnold is ranked 484th).
Last Friday, Lincoln humbled Rickards with a 36-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Lincoln, who have now won three games by 29 points or more so far this season.
Lincoln can attribute much of their success to Christian "deuce" Lawrence, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Lincoln also got a significant boost from Jashawn Washington, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
Lincoln's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Arnold, who are still winless after their sixth game. They were beaten by St. John Paul II 63-0 on Friday.
Lincoln's win lifted them to 6-1 while Arnold's loss dropped them down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against Arnold when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 51-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
