Baseball Recap: Rhea County Takes a Loss

Rhea County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the McMinn County Cherokees, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cherokees this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-3 loss last Tuesday.

Corydon Butler was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Jax Schmitt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Rhea County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for McMinn County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rhea County will square off against Whitwell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McMinn County, they will challenge Soddy Daisy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
