Basketball Game Preview: South San Francisco Warriors vs. San Mateo Bearcats

The South San Francisco Warriors will face off against the San Mateo Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

South San Francisco is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Terra Nova on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. South San Francisco was outmatched by Terra Nova and fell 86-50. The Warriors have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, San Mateo came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 45-35 win over the Colts.

San Mateo pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for South San Francisco, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.

South San Francisco came up short against San Mateo in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 58-50. Can South San Francisco avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
