Basketball Recap: Hale Cardinals vs. Meadville Eagles
Hale had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Meadville Eagles, falling 74-42. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Meadville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quentyn Smith, who went 7-for-10 en route to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. What's more, Smith also posted a 70% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Reece Meyers was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight boards and seven assists.
The victory got Meadville back to even at 1-1.
Hale will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grundy County/Newtown-Harris at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Meadville, they will be taking part in a tournament against Higbee at 8:15 p.m. on Friday.
