Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Stratford's Winning Streak

Stratford dropped their record down to 6-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Whites Creek Cobras. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cobras earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Teroz Dowell and Cal Brock stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dowell went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Brock went 1-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. Joseph De Dios Lopez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Whites Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.

On Whites Creek's side, Ty'Rique Keesee and Jason Howse did most of the damage at the plate: Keesee went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Howse went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Howse a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Irvin, who earned two runs and five stolen bases.

As of now, neither Stratford nor Whites Creek have any future games scheduled.
