Friday just wasn't the day for Willis's offense. They fell just short of the Conroe Tigers by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The Wildkats' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Alexi Ford spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Willis' defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Conroe, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Willis is set to face off against their familiar foe Oak Ridge at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Conroe will square off against rival Caney Creek at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in the Tigers' favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Panthers have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
