Recap: Wheatmore Warriors vs. Trinity Bulldogs
The Wheatmore Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 71-38 loss at the hands of Trinity. Wheatmore has not had much luck with Trinity recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Finley Bryant and Gavin Strickland certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Bryant scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Strickland scored 13 points. Bryant set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Connor Gordon was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Dominic Payne was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds for Trinity. The match was Payne's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Campbell, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Wheatmore bumped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Trinity, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Wheatmore is on the road again on December 28th and play against First Flight at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Mason Dobie and Parker Kines. Trinity won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Central Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Central Davidson is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
