Softball Recap: Gadsden City Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Gadsden City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They skirted past the Ragland Purple Devils 7-6. For the Titans, this counts as revenge for the 14-11 victory the Purple Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2019.

Raina Underwood made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiera Hampton, who fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Naomi Wise, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Gadsden City lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Gadsden City's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14. As for Ragland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Gadsden City will take on Hokes Bluff at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Gadsden City is facing Hokes Bluff at the right time seeing as Hokes Bluff is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Ragland, they will be playing at home against Appalachian at 4:30 a.m. on Friday. Appalachian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
