Coolidge is 0-6 against Jackson-Reed since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Colts will face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Coolidge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 26-4 margin over Ballou on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.
Tate Appleforsberg made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up four earned runs but no hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Coolidge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rodrigo Cabrera-Garcia was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Orion Fernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
Coolidge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jackson-Reed waltzed into their game on Thursday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Frogs an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won 16 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Nelson Hayes looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jackson Loomis was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Fox-Fernandez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
Jackson-Reed pushed their record up to 23-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Coolidge, their record now sits at 4-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coolidge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jackson-Reed struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Coolidge suffered a grim 19-1 defeat to Jackson-Reed when the teams last played back in March. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
