Preview: Medford Tech Jaguars vs. Burlington Township Falcons

Two dominant guards in Tre Powell and Baron Davis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Medford Tech Jaguars will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Burlington Township Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Medford Tech has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 594 points over their last eight contests.

Medford Tech pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 82-60 walloping at the hands of Union Catholic. While losing is never fun, Medford Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Union Catholic is ranked 13th).

Medford Tech's defeat came about despite a quality game from Nesta Rice, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Powell, who scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Burlington Township waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 win over Moorestown.

Burlington Township's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aaron Ferguson, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals, and Irving Singletary, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Singletary scored 15 or more points. Ian Walker was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Medford Tech's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Burlington Township, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Medford Tech have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Burlington Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Medford Tech won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Burlington Township 60-59. Will Medford Tech repeat their success, or does Burlington Township have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
