Softball Recap: Parkview Takes a Loss

Parkview had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it seven. They came up short against the Williams Bay Bulldogs, falling 15-2. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Makenna Phillips was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Williams Bay, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-11. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Parkview: they've now won three in a row.

On Williams Bay's side, Sarena Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

In other batting news, Kalie Stanek was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Stanek is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Katelyn Mckean was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Parkview and Williams Bay could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Vikings will square off against Deerfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (341 vs. 75). Meanwhile, Williams Bay (ranked 307th) will meet Johnson Creek (ranked 39th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
