Softball Recap: Newberry Comes Up Short

Newberry lost against Whitmire back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Newberry fell 9-6 to Whitmire. The Bulldogs' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Courtney Scurry was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Ozaria Goree was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Newberry's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Whitmire, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Looking ahead, Newberry will challenge Clinton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newberry is facing Clinton at the right time seeing as Clinton is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Whitmire, they will square off against Calhoun Falls Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
