Basketball Game Preview: Wiregrass Kings vs. Ballard Christian Eagle

The Wiregrass Kings will head out on the road to take on the Ballard Christian Eagle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wiregrass has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 26.

Last Saturday, Wiregrass lost to Evangel Christian at home by a 61-43 margin. While losing is never fun, the Kings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Lightning are ranked 60th).

Wiregrass' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Graysen Ellison, who posted 14 points and six boards, and Tucker Duren, who had 13 points. Those 13 points gave Duren a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Ballard Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of LaGrange Academy.

Wiregrass' defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Ballard Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Wiregrass was able to grind out a solid victory over Ballard Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2016, winning 41-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wiregrass since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
