Texas crowns cross country, tennis, volleyball champions

Led by individual champion Craig Lutz, Marcus (Flower Mound) won the boys team title at the 5A Region I cross country meet in Lubbock. Plano's Rachel Johnson won the 5A Region I girls race and Carroll (Southlake) won the girls team title. In 4A, Liberty (Frisco) runner Brady Turnbull won the Region II individual title, and in 3A, Lovejoy (Lucas) swept the boys and girls Region II titles. The state meet is this weekend.

HIGHLAND PARK TAKES ANOTHER TENNIS TITLE
Highland Park (Dallas) won its seventh 4A team tennis championship in the last eight years in convincing fashion. The Scots beat Boerne Champion, 10-0, in the final.

ANTONIAN PREP WINS VOLLEYBALL TITLE
Bishop Lynch came up just short in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 5A volleyball title game. For the second straight year, Lynch lost to Antonian Prep (San Antonio). The score was 25-11, 24-26, 25-15, 25-21.

SVEINSSON COMMITS TO STANFORD
Greenhill (Addison) senior Chelsey Sveinsson, who has set several Texas records and has dominated Dallas-area distance events since she was a freshman, has orally committed to Stanford.
