Preview: Westview vs. Bolivar Central

Bolivar Central squares off against Westview this Friday at 7:30 PM. Westview will need to watch out since Bolivar Central has posted big point totals in its previous five matchups.

Bolivar Central is still above.500 but has been slipping the past two games. It fought the good fight two weeks ago but suffered a stinging 36 - 35 defeat in overtime to Dyersburg. The team got a solid performance out of senior Woodrow (trey) Lowe III (he ran for 128 yards and also punched in two touchdowns); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. Lowe III has been a consistent playmaker for Bolivar Central as this was the 8th good game in a row from him. Senior Josh Sturgis was an active contributor as well and provided 105 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Westview came out on top in a nail-biter against Camden Central two weeks ago, sneaking past 24 - 22. Westview and Camden Central were a much more even match than Westview's previous opponent, giving the fans a heck of a game.

Bolivar Central's defeat dropped it to 5-3 while Westview's win brought it to 3-5. Both Bolivar Central and Westview have been struggling on the defensive side of the ball (the former allowing an average of 30 points per game, the latter an average of 28 points per game). We'll find out which offense can take advantage of this fact when the two teams meet this week.
