Baseball Recap: Hudson Catholic Victorious

Hudson Catholic's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They skirted past the North Bergen Bruins 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Evans Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lucas Rivera, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonah Cortes, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Hudson Catholic's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for North Bergen, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.
