Softball Recap: Topsail's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Topsail dropped their record down to 12-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Laney Buccaneers by a score of 2-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in April.

Addison Ash spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

As for Laney, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Laney's side, Allyson Brehmer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Brehmer has posted since back in March.

As of now, neither Topsail nor Laney have any future games scheduled.
