Baseball Recap: Adams Central Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Adams Central and Fort Wayne Crusaders pushed the score to 19-5 the last time they played Fort Wayne Crusaders, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Flying Jets walked away with a 4-0 win over Fort Wayne Crusaders. The Flying Jets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Fort Wayne Crusaders, too.

Ethan Funk made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Everett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jami Roach was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Adams Central pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Wayne Crusaders, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Adams Central will challenge Lakewood Park Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Wayne Crusaders does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
