Basketball Recap: Live Oak Comes Up Short

Live Oak suffered their biggest loss since February 2, 2024 on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Walker Wildcats and fell 82-28. The Eagles have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Walker was led to victory by Arionna Patterson and Logan Cookmeyer. Patterson went 8 for 11 on her way to 24 points along with eight steals and five rebounds, while Cookmeyer went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Cookmeyer a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Talayjah Goza, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points and six boards.

Live Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Walker, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 27-1.

Live Oak has already played their next matchup (against Northshore), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Walker will face off against Prairieville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Walker is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
