Basketball Recap: Elberta Warriors vs. Williamson Lions
Elberta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 35-23 to the Williamson Lions. The Warriors were probably out for revenge after losing 44-16 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Williamson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarhiya Davis, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those 15 points gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shekinah Lane, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points and three steals.
Elberta's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Williamson, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.
Elberta will host Rain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elberta is facing Rain at the right time seeing as Rain is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Williamson, they will head out to face off against UMS-Wright Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. UMS-Wright Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
