Baseball Game Preview: Leechburg Blue Devils vs. Serra Catholic Eagles

The Leechburg Blue Devils are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Serra Catholic Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Leechburg is leaving town to face Serra Catholic after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Leechburg fell just short of Apollo Ridge by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Leechburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Jones, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Serra Catholic got themselves on the board against Bishop Carroll on Saturday, but Bishop Carroll never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 10-0 victory.

Owen Dumbroski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Jake Holmes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matt McNeal, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
