Madi Giddens led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbi Hooten, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Giddens wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Elysian Fields kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for Elysian Fields: they were averaging 4.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.
Meanwhile, Ore City came up short against Beckville on Friday, falling 13-2.
Brooke Byrd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Mazye Hawkins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Ore City's loss dropped their record down to 2-9-1. As for Elysian Fields, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
Ore City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Elysian Fields hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. It's a different story for Ore City, though, as they've only averaged .183. Will they be able to contain Elysian Fields' hitters?
