Baseball Recap: North East Carolina Prep Falls to Southside in First Game of Season

North East Carolina Prep had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 8-5 to the Southside Seahawks.

Seth Peele was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Gavyn Morris was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North East Carolina Prep will head out to challenge Bear Grass Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southside, they will head out on the road to take on North Pitt at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
