Baseball Recap: Sheboygan Area Lutheran Comes Up Short

Sheboygan Area Lutheran had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it five. They came up short against the Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers, falling 16-6. The Crusaders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lancers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Sheboygan Area Lutheran saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Barts, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Lukas Schulze was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

As for Manitowoc Lutheran, the win got them back to even at 2-2. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.

On Manitowoc Lutheran's side, Drew Staudt tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Wesley Hecker was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Collin Rounds, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sheboygan Area Lutheran didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-6 loss against Oostburg on the 21st. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, they will square off against Sevastopol at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
