Baseball Recap: Niles Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Niles Notre Dame made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Nazareth Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Dons fell just short of the Roadrunners by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Dons in their meetings with the Roadrunners: they've now lost three in a row.

Nomar Meza was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Niles Notre Dame saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Spellman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Niles Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11-1. As for Nazareth Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Roadrunners beat Niles Notre Dame by a score of 7-2 later that day.
