Baseball Game Preview: Paulsboro Red Raiders vs. Sterling Silver Knights

The Paulsboro Red Raiders will face off against the Sterling Silver Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Paulsboro has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with nine straight defeats, while Sterling will come in with ten straight victories.

Paulsboro came up short against Collingswood on Tuesday, falling 20-2.

While Sterling didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Cardinal O'Hara on Monday.

Vaughn McVeigh tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits.

At the plate, Luke Lomax was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Sterling pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Paulsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Paulsboro skirted past Sterling 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Silver Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
