Soccer Game Preview: Imperial vs. Holtville

The Imperial Tigers will take on the Holtville Vikings at 6:05 p.m. on Friday. Imperial's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Imperial managed to keep up with Calexico until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Imperial lost 4-0 to Calexico. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, Holtville has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 9. They came up short against Central on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

Holtville's loss dropped their record down to 6-11-2. As for Imperial, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6-7.

Imperial was able to grind out a solid win over Holtville in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 2-0. Does Imperial have another victory up their sleeve, or will Holtville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
