Volleyball Preview: Paris Wildcats vs. Pittsburg Pirates

On Friday Paris will have to hit the road after three straight games at home. They will challenge the Pittsburg Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Pittsburg took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Paris, who comes in off a win.

Paris will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Sulphur Springs, who they hadn't topped in nine consecutive meetings. Paris won by a set and slipped past Sulphur Springs 3-2.

Paris wouldn't go down easily and took Sulphur Springs into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-16, 22-25, 21-25, 16-14.

Paris can attribute much of their success to Lynna Martin, who had ten digs and two aces. Martin is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Anna Grace Blassingame was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

She wasn't the only good server: Paris was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Pittsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Pleasant Grove.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-8, 25-16.

Paris' record now sits at 24-11. As for Pittsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-13.
