Softball Recap: Quincy Comes Up Short

Quincy came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Springport Spartans by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The Orioles haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Hannah Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Miley Poindexter was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI. Cali Richards was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Quincy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Springport, the victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quincy will venture away from home to face off against Sand Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Springport, they will take on Onsted at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
