Basketball Recap: Trinity Greenlawn Takes Down Argos in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Trinity Greenlawn walked away with it. They strolled past the Argos Dragons with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 54-38. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-49 back in January.

Nathan Skendzel went supernova for Trinity Greenlawn, going 7-for-11 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. Those 21 points gave Skendzel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ian Abbott, who shot 42% from the field en route to 14 points.

Argos' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Stults, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 19 points and five boards. Stults' big performance that evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zhayne Hellums, who posted 11 points.

Trinity Greenlawn's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Argos, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Coming up, Trinity Greenlawn will square off against South Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Argos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
