Basketball Recap: Dishchii'bikoh Comes Up Short

After flying high against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind back in December of 2024, Dishchii'bikoh came back down to earth. The Dishchii'bikoh Wildcats opened the new year with a less-than-successful 37-28 defeat to the Highland Prep Honey Badgers.

Highland Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendra Ibeh led the charge by putting up eight points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks. Ibeh is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Lawrence, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Dishchii'bikoh has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Highland Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Dishchii'bikoh Wildcats take on the St. Michael Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dishchii'bikoh is facing St. Michael at the right time seeing as St. Michael is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Highland Prep, they will square off against Chino Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland Prep's defense has only allowed 27.7 points per game this season, so Chino Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
