Basketball Recap: Centralia's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Centralia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Marion Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Orphans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Wildcats are ranked 98th).

Centralia's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. As for Marion, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centralia will face off against Mater Dei at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marion, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Marion Wildcats challenge the Meridian Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
