Football Recap: Spackenkill Takes a Loss

Spackenkill had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it five. They took a hard 33-14 fall against Burke Catholic. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 48-21 to Burke Catholic when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Burke Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 3-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Burke Catholic was led to victory by Marco Langley and Lucas Rodriguez-Lopez. Langley picked up 91 receiving yards and two TDs, while Rodriguez-Lopez threw for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Langley is becoming a predictor of Burke Catholic's success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

Looking ahead, Spackenkill will host Dover at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Burke Catholic, they are taking a road trip to square off against Whitney Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burke Catholic will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.43 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
