Football Recap: Andrew Jackson Comes Up Short

Andrew Jackson played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 36-14 to the Matanzas Pirates. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Matanzas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Walker, who threw for 215 yards and two TDs while completing 72.4% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Wiley Conner helped Walker out on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also catching one TD.

This is the second loss in a row for Andrew Jackson and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Matanzas, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Andrew Jackson will take on Atlantic Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Matanzas, they will square off against Seabreeze at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
