Tempe is 0-5 against Dysart since January of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tempe Buffaloes will head out on the road to face off against the Dysart Demons at 7:00 p.m. Tempe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Dysart likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Tempe was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 71-65 to Yuma. While the Buffaloes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Criminals 19-7 in the first quarter.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sa?Veon Mccrimon, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Arthur Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dysart entered their tilt with Cortez on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 62-37 victory. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Dysart's win came from a few key players Tempe will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lamar Anderson, who went 5 for 8 en route to 11 points along with six assists and five boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Santiago Leyva was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.
Dysart has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Tempe, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Tempe has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Dysart struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Tempe lost to Dysart on the road by a decisive 62-46 margin in their previous matchup on January 7th. Can Tempe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
